About the author
Lucas P. Voss is an engineer whose career has been shaped by a lifelong fascination with systems, technology, and human behavior. Over the years, he watched digital tools evolve from conveniences into powerful engines of connection and, increasingly, forces capable of influencing how people think, interact, and make decisions.
With a strong personal sense of justice and an enduring curiosity about the intersection between technology and humanity, Voss became drawn to the darker questions emerging from our increasingly connected world: How can sophisticated systems be manipulated? What happens when intelligence outpaces understanding? And where does human judgment fit when technology becomes powerful enough to shape reality itself?
Those questions became the foundation for his fiction. Blending technical insight with psychological tension, Voss writes stories about ordinary people confronting invisible threats hidden behind code, networks, and systems they only partially understand.
His debut novel, The Pig Butcherer, explores the devastating human cost of online deception and digital predators. His second novel, D.O.R.I.S., expands those themes into the world of artificial intelligence, following a software engineer who uncovers disturbing secrets behind the emergence of what may be the world’s first superintelligence.
Across his work, Voss explores recurring questions: What happens when technology outsmarts our defenses? What does justice look like when the enemy has no face? And how far will people go when confronted by systems they can no longer control?
When he’s not writing, building, or dismantling things, he enjoys hiking in the desert, cooking, and having his dogs exercise him. He lives in the American Southwest, where he is at work on his next novel.
